Oscars swollen

I have a couple questions for you Rust, first, like Delgado just asked above, what is the temp. of the water? Next how old is the fish and did the swelling happen gradually or over just a few days?
My first thoughts are that you should lay off the beef heart for a couple weeks. I sometimes causes digestive problems, The same goes for floating pellets, try a sinking high quality pellet dipped in garlic juice for a few days and feed lightly along with some high roughage foods like for koi, even if not over fed it won't hurt thefish and if it is just a partial blockage the lowered food intake can help clear as will the plant fiber intake.
Next if the temp is in the 70s F try raising it a couple degrees per day to the low to mid 80s, it will speed digestion, At temps as high as the mid 70s some fish have problems with food fermenting instead of digesting, especially red meat.
Next, watch the feces for whitish slime, if you see that try dosing it with an antiparasite laced food like the one made by Jungle, that will take care of both protozoal and worm infestations. Good luck.

I thought it may have been something to do with digestion ! as it looks like it's stomach area which was swollen !

Good Call Guppy lad !

Ryan i personally would go with what Guppy has mentioned it's not often he's wrong ! check your temp and raise it slightly NOT all at once as suden raise in temp could shock your fish .

cmon im sure youve seen a baby fish with a swollen bellie after feeding :)

A full tummy should go down within a few hours if it is just from feeding.

Feed it something high in fiber to clean out it's system and see the the swelling goes away.

Yes i have ! my shovelnose has done it ! I speak to ryan privetly and he has told me it's out of the blue it's never heppened before. And if you look at the first picture it actually looks abnormally swollen thats why i think it Maybe a digestion problem !

:)

My temperature is 84F.
I am not sure how old the fish is, as i got it from a friend,
and the lump just came up over a day.
I will get a picture of him again as he is not fat now, so you can see the lump much better.
