Hi folks, this is my first post in over a year, but i have decided to get back into the fish game, but i have forgotton most of what i know, i.e, size to tank ratio etc etc...i was wondering how many oscars could i keep in a 48x18x24 (LxWxH) about 310ltrs....i would also like an arowana again, i miss my old kids :( how long would a 6" silver last in my tank? (sorry for sounding dumb, but i need to refresh my memory lol) thanks and its good to be back!

You could keep one, or maybe two if you keep the water extra clean with vigilant water changes.

The aro would be fine for a while, it probably should be moved once it gets to be 12 or so inches.

One word of warning, i've heard a couple stories where oscars all of a sudden go crazy and kill silver arowanas. Normally they can be kept together, but for some reason a a few oscars aren't fond of silver aros.

Good luck,
Art

Cheers Art, ive had oscar, red terrors, GTs, severums all sorts of cichlids with silver arows before, and my oscars seem very placid, but like you said, they can turn, ill keep on eye on them, thanks

In a 90 you could easily keep 2 Oscars, adn could grow out an Aro for about a year or so.. but then you'd need to upgrade. Sometimes 2 O's wont get along though.. so you'd have to watch them as they get bigger.

hey welcome back, you have about an 90 gallon tank so u can easily put in 2 full grown oscars, and other smaller fish, like parrots, jds etc. for your other question an arowana could last in that tank untils its about 12-14inches after that you should get a bigger tank.

Thats what i thought with the arow, if i get an arow, i think i will just at a shoal of silver $'s and that will be it, dont want to over crowd my tank, that sound ok?

Hi, I didn't know where to post this but here it goes! I've got 4 baby Oscars in a corner-tank, and have noticed there are snails in with them! My question is, will the snails infect the fish with parasites or will the fish just eat them! We thought about putting some cucumber in the tank, but won't the O's eat it?

The snails wont hurt the Oscars but you should have made your own thread to ask this...

Sorry, but I didn't know where to ask! So sorry :( But thanks for the info!
