Stupid Town, Nm.
If I bought a 150 gallon tank, would I be able to keep two adult sized Oscars.

For Filtration I have been trying to find out if I could use two Emperor 400's.

I have been getting mixed results. Some people say yes it would be fine, And others say the 400's is not enough filtration.

So in defense of the Emp's they are rated up to 80 gallon tanks and with two, thats 160 gallons. They also filter 400 gallons an hour so... that should be adeqaute filtration for the oscars.

No, it should not. Oscars are messy fish, they require DOUBLE filtration and lots of water changes to maintain maximum health.

Also I do water changes every week. 10 to 15 percent of my tank size. So, I would like for somebody to explain to me why two Emp 400 ain't enough please. Because Im suprised it wouldn't be

first of all 15-20 % water changes will definitlyyyy not be enough for two oscars, its not even enough for one.You will need to be doing min of 30- 40 % evrey week for 2 oscars. And like mentioned above oscars are extrmely messy and need ALot of filtration and 160 gallons of filter for 150 gallons water isnt much not even for 1 oscar. I have an oscar who has over 300 gallons of filter in his tank and hes in a 180 gallon .in my opinion you will need atleast double what you have now for filtration if u plan on gettin two oscars.

+1

A 150 will be fine for 2 full grown O's, and possibly another fish or two. However you will definitely need more filtration.

And as far as water changing goes, I would always encourage weekly changes. However you should really monitor your Nitrate levels closely, and base your maintenance on that.

I don't have the tank yet. I have my 65 gal. right now. Im just speculating which fish I could get if I got this 150 gal.

Its starting to seem as if the oscars are going to way more expensive then I thought. But the look so freaking cool.

So what type of Filtration do I need. And if somebody can point me in the right direction.

:nilly:$500 for the filter alone:nilly:

Either way, trying to get two Emp. 400 and then another filter is gonna cost me a grip of pocket change.

But I understand you said I would only need just that one filter but man that still hurts my heart. Seems abit expensive maybe no...

thanks for the info.
