:nilly:$500 for the filter alone:nilly:

Either way, trying to get two Emp. 400 and then another filter is gonna cost me a grip of pocket change.

But I understand you said I would only need just that one filter but man that still hurts my heart. Seems abit expensive maybe no...

thanks for the info.

An fx5 in the states wont be more than $300, I bought mine for $340 up here.

Try the emperors and test your water on a tri-weekly basis and watch the ion saturation of the water. If it becomes out of control then you know your two filters are not good enough. I would recommend more filtration however.

id go with the fluval fx5 just that and youll be good, the filter is around 500$

You positive that one filter is all im going to need. If so then, that would save me alot of pocket change. Instead of buyin to Emp. 400's and then need another filter. If that one can do it all then maybe I can find one for cheap.

My Oscar isn't a messy eater. That could be because i hand feed him pellets. :D :headbang2
Oh forgot about the filter, a fluvalx5 would work great for that set-up will really cut down on your cleaning. Still 25% water changes weekly would be nessacary.

Ok, if this filter will do the job, then maybe I can find one cheaper than $300.

Good luck if you find it cheaper let us know here (MFK) because we all(the MFKers) are also looking for great prices for fx5's lol

What about the Rena XP3. Would just one do or would I need some extra filtration? And if I do need extra then what could I use without tearing holes in my pocket? Another XP3 or would a EMP. 400 combination work?

You know "Rena" is the Latin word for Frog.

i have an xp3 in my 65 gallon with my red devil and i wouldnt put that filter in a tank bigger than 75 gallons. if i were u i would shop around and try to find a xp5.and yes im sure it would be enough ans xp5 cleans up to 400 gallons of water and 600 gallons per hour. u could sometimes find some specials here and there especially on boxing day:).
