oscars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm inclined to say that this thread's specimens is has created an urge to get an oscar. I'm serious. A nice generic tiger oscar in my 200g....

but god, I already know my tank is perfect.... modest bioload, very spacious for the existing fish... adding an oscar would upset much of this in the long run.

that's not to say I definitely won't get an oscar in the near future...

uggh... must fight the urge!@@@

There was never an urge for me to get an oscar. The wild ones that I do have were given to me. One of my LFS basiclly threw them at me. They had ordered them awhile ago and the four speciemens I got would not sell and had grown to big. They know me as the guy with the big tanks so I got them. They were all about 9". One was eaten by sailfin pim within a week. I managed to find a good home for one of them as well so I was stuck with two. They are both venezulian variants. One of them lives in my 180 with my 5 5" F1 trimacs and 2 7" buttis. When he was first introduced to the tank he was quite bold and he picked a fight with the dominant butti. Suffice to say his ass was handed to him by the butti. He is now at the bottom of pecking order and even the little trimacs chase him around its very funny.

i have a six inch oscar and i grew him since he was 1" he is my favorite fish because he is so nice some times when he thinks hes gonna be fed when i put my finger over the water he jumps out and bites my finger i just love him:hearts: :hearts: :hearts: i luve my managua too he and the oscar ive grown since they were an inch and under

My two cents - yeah oscars are ridiculously common but could that be cause they are great fish to keep? I've got one.
