lol, knifegill, you prolly had oscars longer then me ( this is my 3rd try with oscars before i had to rehome them but these im keeping to adulthood ) any good pointers i should know? tank is 112-5footer, so any pointers for me?

im feeding a bunch of food, cichlid pellets, flakes, shrimp pellets, oscar grow, and fresh shrimp, any other frozen food i should know about that will be healthy?

I haven't spawned them, but it's pretty straightforward. They claim a slate and clean it, then court for awhile and lay eggs. Both parents guard the fry. Increased aggression is normal but not as bad as convicts usually. If you really do have a male and a female, this play they are engaging in now is likely early bonding. This could be a good thing for you. You can sell the fry at any size as feeders, or larger sizes as pets. But don't count your eggs before they hatch. Either Oscar might snap and kill the other, especially if it turns out they are both male.

Food? Earthworms might be the single best Oscar food in the universe according to Neal Pronek.

lol didnt mean breeding ( if they spawn il just take the eggs out cause i dont have a diff tank to care for them ) i ment like in general care lol.

You don't need to separate them. Oscars are one of the most convenient things to breed ever. Great parents, they will raise the fry to at least 1" in most cases. You just provide microfoods at first, then they are soon big enough to eat crushed HIGH QUALITY food. Not Hikari, not Wardley, not Tetra. Food made of food, not fillers.

In general, they do well fed a range of pellet like you're already doing (good job!). Also include algae wafers at least every other day. Many O's will happily eat blanched vegetables and my first Oscar loved steamed asparagus. Meaty foods are great, too, but are only part of this omnivore's diet. Insects, in all truth, should make up the bulk of most fish's diet. So the more crickets and such the better, just gut-load them first for maximum benefit.

Oscars will eat almost anything and too much of it. It is our job to control how much they eat. One of the worst things to feed an Oscar is excess. Too much food will kill fish. Obesity is real, and Oscars are frequently victims of it.

LOL thats good, meaty food, eh? well feeders are out of the Q, ( dont believe in feeding feeders after i learned that they can cause HLLE or HITH ) so any frozen food that will be good for them? next month ill beable to get them some more frozen shrimp ( ones we eat ) but when my grandmother goes to eau claire i may talk her into getting some other frozen treats for them ( any ideas? )

No, it's cyprinids like goldfish and rosy reds that contain thiaminase. Tropical feeders like guppies are great and nutritious as long as you raise them yourself or quarantine for a few weeks. And earthworms are better than that, even, packed with iron and usable protein as well as devoid of fish illnesses. Lots of live foods are extremely safe and nutritious.

Most frozen foods would be fine for Oscars. I'm trying to think of something they wouldn't eat and benefit from and, aside from food too small for them to eat, can't think of anything obvious. So look for large frozen food rather than tiny little mysis shrimp or anything like that.
