how can you tell if an oscars a male or female. same for convicts and other cichlids

Convicts are easy to sex: Males will be larger, have longer fins, may have a hump on the forehead. Females will be smaller, and will have orange on their flanks, may have blue throats, may have yellow and orange fins.
