The best way to find out weather or not you have too many Oscars in a tank is to simply add 25/ 30 gal per Oscar but one Oscar needs a 50 gal tank at the minimum.
Oh i've miss read your thread you say ( 2 PAIRS ) it all depends on how big they are if they are only small then YES, But if they are quite a size you may find that they will attack each other.
thats what I was worried about. attacking each other. the thing is I have two leporinus who are destroying my fish, and nohwere else to put them. I have transfer them to my 72 gallon tank which housed my tigers, but I don't want them to lose their fins. thats why I was wondering if it was okay to mix with my albinos. They are all about 10" min.
I wouldn't keep more than three oscars in that tank, and if you get a true pair, they will probably kill the third oscar. We have a 100 gallon (60"L) and are raising up oscars in hopes of getting a pair. We started with six at 2", and after only a month the largest ones (maybe 4") have already killed one of the smaller ones and would have killed another if I didn't separate him last night.
is more than the first time i have read of leporinus being that agressive... is all this true??? am so glad that i did not really seriously try to track some down a few years back when i developed an interest in getting some...
