I don't think the eggs will be fertile. If it's a short bodyAstronotus ocellatus you can cross breed with a Astronotus crassipinnis. Thewy have to be in the same genus. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Correction:
Fish can not and do not recognize a partner by knowing what genus they're in. When given no better option a sexually mature cichlid in captive conditions may attempt to spawn with whatever is available. Cons can hybridize with many other Central American cichlids. Cross genus hybrids are well documented.

Paracgromis X cichlasoma

Amphi X Herichthys

+ many more for them to be viable the species have to have closy related dna and the same amoount of chromosomes.

Sorry ive been away and forgot about this thread LOL, the eggs have gone but are spawning no against the glass.

They have now stopped but are definatley a pair now.
