What kind of other fishes can i put with African Ciclids? Aswell what kinds of fish could i put in a community tank that are hardy and easy to take care of. My community tank is sapose to be 90 gallon and my Ciclids tank is 55 gallon. How maney of each can i put in each tank. Sorry im full of Questions but alls i have had all my lif is 10 gallons or smaller. So im totally lost when it comes to larger tanks. Im so sorry for thaté Sharon

african cichlids, you could put *drum roll*... more african cichlids!! or some bottom feeders. nothing else pretty much.

community tank. umm you can put anything that is small or otherwise does nothing to other fish. basically boring fish that are decent to look at. like bloop bloop fish. OR you can turn that 90 gal into a predator tank and join in on the sensation with bichirs/ gars/ piyara/ piranha/ australians/ knives/ and whatever else will fit in a 90. but just make sure you do your research about whatever fish your looking at.

as for african tankmates it's usually more cichlids, or synodontis cats. although people get away with a variety of fast swimming fish and occasionally loaches.

as for a big community tank i like schools of congo tetras, rainbowfish, bleeding heart tetras, clown loaches, and with those you could still get the best of both and put a black ghost knife/african knife in there with them.

Thank you both for your great advise. snyder810 so would it be ok to put Angel fish, Silver dollars, Gourmis and sharks in with the African cichlids? What are black ghost knifes/African knifes? i have never heard of congo tetras or rainbowfish either. Thank you

No no and no. African cichlids go with other african cichlids and some syno cats. They would kill the angelfish, silver dollars, and gouramis. The sharks may be able to hold their own depending on what type.

i agree african's aren't good mixers and slow moving fish like you listed are especially a no being easy targets

but you can keep angels in a nice community tank given enough space and decor. the only potential issues is aggresion if you end up with a pair. I've kept many angels in community tanks and have had almost no issues with doing so, except as i stated above when I had a pair of juvies mature and mate. Then anything dumb enough to get to close to their spawning site was chased away, or even killed if it didn't get the hint.

but my question is what do you have already?
