DNR is doing something, but its not enough. If you check out my spearfishing thread...you will see we poke a lot of rough fish, and it does nothing. We can shoot carp all day long and they will come back. I think the DNR needs to push activities like this more, because its the only way to control the problem at this point. Very soon we will have the asian jumping carp in lake michigan...you can say good bye to whats left of the biodiversity when that happens.
The thing about the other invasives is that some can enter an environment and fit in. Bowfin are invasive, but the DNR isnt really worried about them because they help prevent stunting by preying almost exclusively on small fish and fry. Sort of like culling if we were breeding fish. Wild horses are the same.
