Definitely too deep for a chance of healing, very good spangling on him, nice and uniform.

Even if it's not wild caught it's a looker...shouldn't matter much to you unless you plan on breeding...

looks to be over 6", anyway. doesn't matter if its Wild Caught or not, you got it for a fair price.

the dorsal rays won't grow back. I have one with similar scarring. actually, I've seen quite a few JDs with messed up dorsal rays. maybe it comes with their namesake. The original Jack Dempsey was pretty scarred up, no doubt.

actually I do plan on breeding him with a wild caught female thats why I'm insuring that its wild caught. thank everyone

Its a good size fish (or so it appears). For an adult JD in good condition that is a fair price me thinks, even if it wasn't wild caught.
