Very cool I like short bodied cichlids, it may actually be just a short body as tex x parrot usually has the deformed mouth and redder markings.

It certainly would, he would make a great partner for my red tex.
 
I would call that a Texas Bonsai...I had a Fortune Fish Bonsai that never faded so it looked exactly lke that but with out the pearls so yours looks better...lol
