It isn't my style either, but it is actually very nice. Reminds me of the show Tanked. Bet that was a lot of money and work! You should be proud. Keep the lights on to a minimum. That's gonna take a lot of hard work to keep looking clean!
Oooh yeah! Especially if (god forbid!) algae were to get into all those little crevices!

If that was real coral I would love it. You can achieve a more natural look without breaking the bank too, I mean pool filter sand looks natural and is like ~$5-$20 for all the sand you would ever need. River rocks from Lowe's look great IMO and are dirt cheap. Get some super hardy cheap plants and you've got a much more natural look than fake coral. And gather your own driftwood, everyone loves free right?

This is meant to be nothing other than constructive criticism. Like the gentleman above me said, A for effort!
Oh no offense taken! I look forward to hearing others opinions. I really wanted to go natural but didn't want to deal with the upkeep of the real stuff. Trimming & all that other time consuming stuff. Thanks for checking it out!

not a fan of anything fake so sorry i vote dont like.
like tlindsey i like the natural scape with real wood
and plants or just completely bare. if you spend
some time and go to the local rivers or lakes you can
find rocks, woods and plants. just make sure you
rinse and clean them out good to make sure your
not transferring any unwanted parasites and etc etc.
A for effort though!
Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to check our tank out & thanks to those of you whom left a comment even if it wasn't in favor of my style I appreciate the way in which your opinions were voiced! I didn't feel put down or offended by anyone. I really wanted to go natural but don't want to deal with the natural stuff, the Trimming & knowing what's what & what fish can go with what plants. In the future after I know my way around a little more I plan to go natural or even saltwater with annimonies. For now with my budget & time I'm happy & so are my kiddos. Thanks again for your time, votes & comments.

^ something you may want to keep in mind if you ever start up a new tank, or decide to re-design this tank, is that you could try using fake silk plants...

I think i remember a lot of members say in the past they went to Michaels Art or Stationary store ro pick up some really real looking, fake silk plants for their tanks...

Some of the results were pretty amazing, and best of all, no need to worry about trimming / melting or any of the other pain in the butt things associated with dealing with live plants :)

I am going to start by saying I am a female. I am not a fan of your tank. It seems to me like you are new to fish keeping. When many of us first get into keeping fish we like all the fun stuff at the store. I still have my eye on an alligator bubbler. His mouth opens and closes with the bubbles . My first tank looked fake, not that fake, but I had the pirate ship, and the house on a hill with fake plants. SO I can't hate it I voted so so.

Once you learn more about fish keeping and you start to keep different types of fish your tank will change. You might get into keeping live plants or go saltwater. You will look back at your first few tanks and think well that was funny. I should show a before and after of my newbie tanks vs 15 years experience .

The main reason I do not like this tank is because you have what look like Guppies in what looks like a wannabe salt water tank. If you stay in the hobby longer and get really into it I think your future tanks will look amazing. On that note my 8 year old daughter loves your tank.
