OUTDOOR POND, ALL PIC'S

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the client had an "activist" neighbour who's inputs kept it from being what we wanted to do/see, but so it goes. We did that neighbour's ponds also, so I certainly can't complain as I created that 'monster" and it's always good fun to run ideas with him :)

Those irid.sharks at a good 14" long now & soon to overgown, but meantime quite stellar. while the lotus has finally sprouted in the upper tank. We're contemplating adding clownloach, but I kind'a love the mystery snails & how clean they're keeping it. Ah, the trades...

Personally use whitefish as I feed fresh water fish with a saltwater spiecies. More to be honest around what’s available to me rather than pathogen transfer.
But yes, small pieces of fish or musselmeat, but also pellets.

Here’s a pic of my outdoor pond it’s more of a feeder pond to a lake it’s spring fed from the fields with fresh water having issues with weeds and blooms tho as it’s only 4-5 foot deep when full, can’t dye it cos of the flow tried to build a bund to slow the flow down to try dye it, tried to raise the banks to make it deeper to stop sun hitting the bottom no joy at a bit of a dead end with it if anyone got any ideas it be greatly appreciated thinking maybe a membrane but don’t want to spend much money on it or turn it in to a costly project going to drain it today anyways and go back to the drawing board IMG_1193.jpeg

“Great looking outdoor ponds! The clear water really stands out. I’ve been trying different ways to keep my own pond clean, and recently came across Lake Weed Away – it really helps with weed control and makes maintenance a lot easier. Has anyone else here tried it for keeping their ponds clear?”

I’ve never used that but I would use barley straw extract. Another thing that could work is a uv, might was green green, my parents thought it looked radioactive lol. Threw a 60w uv on there and a few small water changes, and a little less than a week later water is almost clear. My pond is around 2000 gallons.
