I am considering putting up a raised outdoor pond in the space shown in the picture. It will have a front viewing glass (4' long and 2 or 2.5' high).
1. What would be the glass thickness needed (with a good safety factor) if I go with 2' and 2.5' (considering that this is outside, a certain amount of extra strength is preferred against objects)? Do I have to use tempered glass?
2. I would like to make this the future home of my RTG arowana when he grows big (currently he is 8" in a 220g). But I would like to setup an environment where he can jump safely. Do you think a 2.5' high glass above the tank level should be enough? ( I think it would be nice to see his natural behavior).
If I go 2.5' high, the tank would be 350g. It will have a pentagon shape with sides as follows. 4' (front) X 2 (side) X 5 (back) X 5 (back) X 2 (side). The two 5' lengths will be against a tall wall, therefore it is safe jumping on that 2 sides. I need to cover up the other 3 edges. Also I am planning to set up a water fall in that corner.
