outdoor rocks question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
take a look at my thread in the native media lounge - just because - there's almost 500 lbs of rocks, lots of woods of different types that came from multiple states and countries including a local lake, and all I did was rinse them.

in decades of fishkeeping nothing has gone into my tank that's been boiled, and no decorations have ever been bleached with the exception of a single case of dropsy.
no problems.

Exploding rocks????

I've taken plenty of rocks from the woods and beach and boiled them for about ten minutes then scrub if really good with my fish toothbrush and rinse. Never once had an issue or rock explode

All of my rocks are collected from local rivers and streams, I have never boiled or bleached and no issues to date (40 yrs). I do try to get igneous rocks whenever possible to avoid mineral leaching into the tank.
