i was cleaning the pond today (300 gallon rubbermaid) and pulled a few carpintis to get a measurement, these guys have grown from 2-2.5" to a solid 3.5-4" and their colors are mind blowing. pond life for cichlids is the absolute best place for them. i also put some A. Heckelii in there about a week ago and they are already getting 'threads' on their fins @ 3-4"!! i will update this thread through-out the summer.

Very nice bro:) wish i could do outdoor ponds at my place:(..... those carpintis are lookin sweet!! Hows that umbee doin;)

Thanks guys! I'll update soon with a full setup Its funky but functional I'm in the process of making my own canister type filter out of a rubbermaid 40g tub. Right now I have a pair of emperor 400s and a fountain filter/pump so far I have $300 tied up in it and its proving worth it with the extreme growth and colors coming from these guys. The natural UV, bugs, algae, and stuff is great for these guys.

Jason I'll post pics of the umbee soon :)

Peter I decided to put the g. tapajos in their own tank til they get a bit bigger they are growing FAST. I'll move these pond inhabitants to their tank when its time :D

my computer wont let me look at Photobucket images:irked: i also have a 150 gallon stock tank summer pond with some African bumblebee cichlids my biggest one is around 8" yeah it is a good way to grow fish i might be buying a 9' diameter stock tank for more fish.
