Here is what I have my creatures in after a move and still there because after I inspected the tank after the move, the silicone on the front side of the tank was split :nilly: I could see little pieces of substrate between the glass. So after stripping out the old, wiping it down with alcohol, and resealing it, the tank now goes through its test of time of holding water. Yes, I did wait 48 hours for the silicone to cure completely. I tell you I hate moving and have to repair a 150 gallon tank.

The holding tank is a 36 gallon rubbermaid tub, with a FX5 for filtration

Better over, then not enough. You'll be good.

filled fx5 = 600gph and 36g tank = 16.6 turn over rate. Considering most mfker's aim for 10-12x turn over rate, you are not over filtered by much.;)

if you still think there is to much filtration/ current , you can always " Turn the valve".

Did you have any problems starting up the FX5, it is a gravity fed filter pump. You have it level with the tank.. just curious if you ran into problems priming it.

it is what it is.. for now, you should be ok.. no problems over filtering with your current setup. They'll be happy once they get into their new home too. Goodluck.. nice fish BTW

i am running an undergravel driven by an Ac70 powerhead, an Ac50 HOB, and a magnum 350 canister............all this on a 20 gallon tank. overkill.....YES.....permanant, NO

:headbang2I have a 55 gallon with 2 AC 110's and an AC 70. I figured it to be about a 23.2 turnover rate!!!!!! NICE:headbang2 It house and albino tiger oscar and a regular tifer oscar. They are about 2-1/2 inches. But damn is that water clear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:naughty:

Wish you the best of luck on the re-seal. I know your filter is overkill for that volume of water, but I would play it safe and maybe do 25% water changes daily? untill they can get back to there 150g.
