No such thing as over filtering...

How about 2 AC110s on my bare bottom fry tank?

Usually the only real disadvantage of overfiltering is the cost of the filters and the cost to run them. There is also a point where adding more filtration will not make your tank any cleaner.

So to say there is no such thing, is not quite a true statement.

I was simply disagreeing with your "no such thing as overfiltration" comment.
I know that a small arowana has a tough time with strong current, possibly even the current from a weak XP3 lol ( No need to flame me, I have 4 XP3s, but they're still over rated IMO)

If you want to have established filters around .......run a few extra sponge filters. They'll hold more BB than any power filter at a fraction of the cost;)
Yeah xp3's are overrated, thats why it was banished to a 30g :D and i don't even think it did a good enough job filter that. The worst thing is there was no living things in the tank... Yeah i have at least one Hydro sponge filter in every tank.

I think the xp3s are OK, ofcourse i had to buy $40 worth of eheim media for each of them. Probably could got a eheim 2217 for the same overall cost.

For those of you that are bashing on XP3. What's wrong with it? It's a $90 filter plus $10 for ceramic rings. For $100 it does not leak, runs quiet, and suck up debris at a decent GPH rate. What more do you want for a $100? Plus it does not leak like other canisters. Having a filter that does not leak is my highest priority because I do not want to risk damaged floor.

To be on topic, I think fish will adjust to the current if it's not pushing the fish against the glass. I usually turn all my filters off during feeding to avoid having my fish chasing the food and having the filter sucking up the food. His Emperor400 may not have the same GPH as a AC110 but he should still have enough GPH filtration. Average turnover rate for filtration is 4x and he's way above that rate. As long as the fish can handle the current and you see an improvement in water clarity then it's not overfiltering. However, like what Bderick said, there come a point when over filtering is waste energy.

It's not a wet/dry:)
I never said it was bad, I said it was over rated.

The more filters you have, the more that can go wrong. There is nothing wrong with having 2 seperate filters which are both adequate but it seems pointless and possibly bad management to have more.

Just my opinion.
