Over Or Understocked?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would look to increasing the number of caeruleus and acei. You could also look at adding another crabro or two. Your Peacocks might get hammered. Your red zebra(Metriaclima estherae) might change colour depending on whether or not it is male or female. Males are blue with the females being an orange/red colour. Wait till the fish is about 2+ inches and then you should be able to sex it. Venting being the best method.

You could look at some of the Cynotilapia species for some coloue variation or possibly the Pseudotropheus sp"elongatus".
With added fish you will have added cleaning of filters. Make sure your filtration is more than enough.:naughty:  :headbang2 :nilly:

Frontosas really don't belong with those type of fish or in a 10gal.

thanks for all the help guys.

but all those fish in a 10 gal? thats rediculous, someone tank his fish away from him he doesnt deserve them.

right now i currently have 7 african cichlids in my tank
all very different but are getting along well.

1 of each: (1 1/2 inch to 3 inch)
Bumble bee, red zebra, yellow lab, snow white socoloffi, Midnight Peacock, Sunshine Peacock, and a purple acei.

Also have: 2x 3 inch plecos.

Its a 48 gal bow front, a women at the lfs said i could do more but she acted like she didnt know squat. im relatively new to this game so some help would appreciate. The tank has been running for over a month now. the parameters are all excellent. Lemme know what u think?

Overstocked, based on the "bumblebee" cichlid itself. It will become too large for the tank and in smaller tanks (like yours) they also tend to be very aggressive. I recommend at least 75 gallons for them and preferably larger. They're pretty mellow in large tanks.

The plecs, if of the "common" variety, will also quickly outgrow the tank.

I would not suggest P. elongatus for the tank. They tend to be hyperaggressive.

it is only temperoary, besides the are alive and non of them died on me so far, so good. i keep filter at the intake and fiber filters on top of the regular filter in side so it handle almost twice of the normal amount.
