Good thread! some good info, i'm not a fan of it bc i like the more natrual look, and i think the fish appreciate it more, but thats my opinion.
People say you have to overstock your african cichlid tank to spread aggression. Than the people get like 30 african cichlids for a 55g. Yeah great job, you over stocked. But you should have that stock in a 150g.
When I was into Africans I never overstocked,but I have seen those mbuna displays where there were so many fish they could hardly move around.Just about every other LFS in this city has such a display.
After trial and error this WILL NOT work with hybrids. I tried this with the hybrid from my avatar and he killed everything one by one. I even tried to keep him fed and that didnt work either, HE IS THE DEVIL!!
i have seen many aquariums that most of the people on here would say they are overstocked. these aquariums belong to people who have been doing this for years. your opions are great, however some people don't know what they are talking about. you would be surprised of what types of fish can be kept together and be healthy and happy. i think anything is possible. i would consider overstocked if you had a 30 gallon with 30 fish overstocked. i feel that as long as you are reasonible and have good filtration, anything is possible.
