Overcrowded?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Either that's not a 55 or those fish aren't 17", but yea the general principle is the same...overcrowded. I went in a Chinese restaurant up north and they had a decent sized hex tank (65G maybe?) with 3-4 RD/Midas in it along with a huge silver aro...the fit was so tight that the aro just stayed in a circle with the head nearly touching the tail. Worst big fish/small tank I"ve ever seen.

I should have had my daughter get in the shot for some scale. I'm positive the 3 were at least 15". They could barely turn. The water quality appeared clear. No waste in the gravel or water so I'm certain it's maintained. I'm thinking they keep the water level low for the waterfall effect from the HOB filter.

But, I agree. Bigger tank. The fish were beautiful though.

I was at a restaurant once that had about 20 3inch goldfish in a 30 gallon tall. :screwy:

Even if they did daily water changes... they could not have been happy.

Yea, my LCR (Local Chinese Restaurant) has a high, tubular tank of about 40 - 50 gallons and houses a pretty little arowana. The tank was designed, set up is maintained by my fish guy, who owns a LFS. Some Asian restuarants tend to placed fish in smaller tanks but all of the tanks I've seen in them are properly maintained and the fish, though cramped, always are healthy and big.

well... black pacu are edible... not sure about RBs.

oh and either that tanks bigger than a 75 or those pacu arent 17 inches.

An asian owned nail salon in my town has a 75g tank full of cichlids some were FH that were not playing nice and I was wondering few months back how long they were going to last....

time for a pedicure!

there is a nail salon in my local mall which has an huge oscar in a wally world 29g and its been there for many many many many years either that or they replace the oscar with an identical one every once in a while.

although the tank is small the water is always clean and the tank is posisitoned where you dont even have to enter the solon to clearly see the tank
