Lupin, is this overfeeding business applicable to goldfish only? I have never seen my carnivorous fishes stuff themselves... well i have seen a walking catfish eat until refusal then eat somemore then regurgitate everything then eat some more.

Overfeeding is a problem for all fish. While most people think fish that are extremely fat are healthy fish, it is not. The internal organs are damaged to an extent and the fish fails to excrete its wastes leading to constipation. Fish are opportunistic in nature. They do not get as much food in the wild as they do in captivity. We shouldn't be too generous to them over their foods as it can affect their health just as much as benefit them well.

alright, so if my fish would be constipated it would work out itself?
The use of green peas as laxative (if the fish is accustomed to those) and fasting can actually help. To avoid constipation, feed sparingly only. Try to spread around the food as much as possible to prevent greedy feeders from shoveling them all at once.
