Hey guys I just started feeding my RTG superworms and he/she is loving it. I'm wondering if I'm overfeeding it? My RTG is about 9" right now and I feed it twice a day with about 3-4 superworms really early in the morning before I go to work and about 5 superworms when I come home from work. So about a total of 8-9 superworms daily. Is this too much? I'm trying to beef it up but I don't want to risk getting DE with this guy.

drop eye is kinda rare in asians is it not?

The amount is fine for your aro. Do try to vary the diet though. Shrimp, crickets and pellets are all equally good.

Thanks. I do feed it pieces of market shrimp and small pellets. That's what I was feeding it before:)

Anypictures? Your RTG and mine are around the same length =D but my RTG is picky with food he only likes to eat mealworms. Even if I try to feed it Lobster meat it won't eat it. I've tried Krill and silver slides. He's accepting silver slides now lately but still having a hard time downing Krills. I started Pellet training yesterday he ate some but then started rejecting again today. So i've already starved him a day and going to feed him pellets again in the morning before i go to work and cut him off of mealworms for a few days or a week. All the pics for my RTG is in my album. Check mines out =) and post pics of your RTG! I'd love to see some pictures.

Drop eye is less prominent in asian arowanas. They can still get it as with other aro species like aussies. Just that silvers are more prone to drop eye than other species.

Sorry bro no updated pics because my lighting in my tank really sucks and the pics come out too dark to see my RTG's true colors. Once I get some more lighting I will take some updated photos. Only photos I have of it now is when I first got it. You can search my threads to find it. Also I got lucky with my RTG as it accepted market shrimp on the 2nd day I got it. I've also fed it pieces of hikari frozen krill and pellets. What I notice is when I feed it frozen seafood it won't take it everyday. What I think is maybe because it takes longer to digest as I can see it's belly is still fat til the next day where as when fed with superworms I've noticed it's belly is not fat anymore within 6-8 hrs. What I usually do is I feed 1 day market shrimp/krill, then second day I feed only pellets then repeat.

Hmmm I've nver noticed the stomAch swelling up like that but then again my rtg hasn't really accepted much of my krills and lobster. I'll definately pay close attention tothat once he starts eatin. Krills etc. I think I'll starve my rtg two days max then I'll feed him some worms. But I hope my try eats so I don't have to starv him that long. He's grown almost an inch now since I last brought him home three weeks ago. They grow fast!
