Overflow plumbing questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yay zen!

however... zen... for your problem... why not just drill a hole through the support and then just add another support next to it?
unless the tank is already full then this is a whole lot of work so screw that..

I'm running 2 x 2" overflows and 2 x 1.5" returns on my 72 x 30 x 24 225g

the overflow box in centered at the top and the returns are 6" below the surface, just to the outside of the overflow drains with 45's directing the flow toward the front corners...

You NEVER want to restrict the overflows...they should be able to handle ALL the flow your pump can produce.

I am a believer in large filtration and major turnover rate...
If you do not need alot of current, then you need to install multiple returns to distribute the flow over a larger area ...

of course IMHO ;)

Hey Zenno
I think I read somewhere that you will be running the same pump I will be using sequences Dart 3600gph. If so I am worried you also will not have enough drainage. I have spoken with a MFK member that is running the same pump with 4 x50mm (2”) bulkheads and needs to slow the pump down to half its output or his 150G sump runs dry not to mention the overflow problems in a power outage.
Hope I am wrong but please look into it a bit more. The members name was cuttas who is running that set up maybe send him a pm for more info.

Go to www.Glass-Holes.com and check out their video on their DART overflows...That's why I got one, full flow using their 2 x 2" DART overflow...
Just make sure your Wet/Dry drip plate can handle the flow...
