somewhere over here
i have an overflow pf 1000 rated at 900 gph and i just bought a mag 950
i did the math with 5 ft of head pressure at 720
so i thought it would of been perfect, but when i pluged it in the pump ran faster than the overflow
im super fustrated and about to give up
tomarro im planning on blocking one of the outlet holes of the overflow and puting another u tube in so i can get the overflow to flow water out faster
will this work
pls i need some advice

i wouldnt block anything adding another U tube would help and should solve the problem. if not you can always add a ball valve to the RETURN line to adjust the flow from the pump to the tank.

Try another u- tube or ball valve on the return pump to turn it down. I'm not familiar with the overflow. Is it a cheap one off ebay? I bought a couple of those years ago and had the same problem they don't even come close to what they say. Get a big CPR or Esopps. They are a few bucks but you get what you pay for. Better to be safe and get the biggest overflow you can. It wont hurt and there is always room to boost up gph in the future. Good luck

the mag 950 is a pondmaster pump really nice and fairly pricy. i ran into the same problem but ran 1 1/4 line down off my overflow so i actually have to limit the outlet line.
that pump is fast drains my sump fast if i start tinkering with either of the lines.
