I run them constantly, and get rid of the amount of waste you see in the photo every day. Mine is attached to my return line from the pump, the only maintenance, is cleaning out the aperture of the venturi that sometimes get plugged by a snail of general stuff. Below is a pic of the venturi tube
waste does vary, the longer you run it, the less waste is built up.
Water changes also obviously keep waste to a minimum.
I have also dried and weighed tank water compared to fractionator waste in the lab, waste is 8-10 times heavier
single celled algae is also removed, the PVC has been stained at the waste removal end.
