Hello,

I want to build a tank, also I'll be drilling a hole for the overflow but since I've only used PVC overflow I have never made a hole.

My question is, where should I put it? on the bottom of the tank, or in the sides near to the top? and what's the difference?

Thanks,

We can't possibly answer that with the information you've given us. what size tank? how much flow? you want the drains silent or you don't care? if you want silent drains, you want them totally automatic, or do you not mind adjusting every now and then? do you mind overflow boxes taking up room in the tank, or do you not want space in the tank taken up by overflow boxes? how much room to spare in the area of the house where the tank will go?

Hahah Thanks everyone, but okay so I guess I need more info:

Tanks dimensions is 5x2.5x2, I don't really mind, I would like for it be silent and also I wand to make a drain for water changes. I don't want overflow boxes or anything. I will have at least 6' in the house for it.

I would drill 2x 2" bulkheads with a 90 degree elbow inside the tank to adjust water hight inside. Very simple and will be more then enough for 2000 gph turnover you can make them fairly silent if you put in ball valves to adjust the water/air mixture in the overflow pipe.

I have an external overflow with herbie style drains, easy and silent. 20150911_185701.jpg 20150911_185715.jpg
