anyone ever had any? Mine just decided to tear apart my cleaner shrimp while he was molting. That's $25 down the drain... :irked:

Do you have a breeding pair? If so they can get pretty damn aggressive while they're...in the mood. If they aren't a breeding pair, or you only have one (haven't really specified if you have more than one. Just assuming), they can be aggressive anyway. They're part of the large damselfish family and some can be more aggressive than others..Sorry to hear about the shrimp.

Ya, they're a breeding pair... The eggs always get eaten by my flame angelfish who is now the only tankmate besides some zoanthids, a blue linckia that I've had since christmas (and who keeps growing), the hermit crabs, a sun coral, a green slimer acro, a tiny toadstool, and some mushrooms. Tank is 187 gallons...

Hmmm. I would just say they're an aggressive pair. I've had a few fish that are just completely NUTS. And then some of the same species and sex and they're fine. I'll let others chime in because I'm not 100% sure..

my pair of clowns are the two biggest pricks i have (especially the male) when it comes to defending their area. to my hand in particular

I have a tomato clown that is the most aggressive fish Ive ever kept. More so than triggers. Hes about 4 inches standard length and draws blood everytime I put my hand in this tank. I have a rule..the second time he bites me he goes in the net until Im done cleaning. So yes they can be docile or psycho just luck of the draw.

Clowns can be super agressive in small tanks, they attack anything that comes to close to their eggs or nems (or corals or w/e they host), I've seen clowns dash out of the anemones to attack a emp angel that was easily twice its size. That said, in larger sistems, something around 200gal is one im thinking of specifically, I have seen Marron clowns hosting a LT nem, and they were the nicest politest clowns I've ever seen, they only attacked the fish If they got REALLY close to the nem, but they are supposed to be the most agressive of the clowns. SO my belief about them is the same I hold for tangs and other "agressive" fish, is that they are only really agressive when confined into tight spaces with others, or when new tank mates are added. Hence my following the saying Bigger is better.

Hey I've heard marrons are aggressive...but are they only aggressive to thier own kind? I have one for many months who is very friendly, never puts up a fight with anything...but will kill a clown...actually did kill a percula clown.

My old Occelaris used to bite my hand up whenever i put it in the tank..., but never interspecifc violence...
