Ok so I had a pretty peaceful 55 with a 6" gt and two 4" balas. My problem right now is I adopted a jaguar at about 5.5" from my little cousin who had no business having the fish(thanks petsmart) he was gonna flush it cause it ate all his other fish! I'm from ri can any1 help me value this fish so I can maybe get a store credit or some trade value. Btw when I first saw him he was jet black after 2 days in my tank he's shimmering purple and blue!

I don't know much about Jags, but do they even turn those colors? Sounds more like a Dempsey.

It does sound more like a Dempsey! Who told you it was a Jag? Your cousin? Or the store?

Lol its not fully those colors I just realized with no pic that's a very bad explanation. Its gold with black striping and 7 black spots down its body the blue is on the edge of the anal and dorsal fins the purple is a like a metalic color blended with the base of gold when the light hits

Its a jag jag!! my brother had a jd for years I can identify those pretty easily. It has almost the same pattern as the jag in the picture but with better colors

baby jags only go for a few dollars. most baby fish arent really worth much. just bring it back and ask if you can trade it for something else.
