Depends on your stocking level. The more plants, the less Nitrate, but keep in mind, your plants won't draw nitrate unless your other chems are in check. So that means balancing Nitrate, Potassium, and Carbon as well as trace.

I never considered my old tanks overstocked because the water quality and fish health were great.

I did consider them too small though
