who here does it?

my 125 IMO is moderate. 2 flowerhorns, 1 synspilum, 1 parrot cichlid, 5 convicts, 4 jewels, 1 ram, 9 african knives, 2 yoyo loaches, 1 big rainbow shark, 1 big golden chinese algae eater

my 10g is more heavily stocked with....4 platies, 6 guppies, 1 betta, 4 cories, 1 apple snail

i think overstocking is ok...but to an extent. im not a fan of the whole jdm styled tanks...but i think with adequate filtration and excellent water quality...and plenty of plants...it is much better then a bare half @$$ed done tank.

i mean what is better...to have a few unsatisfying tanks...or 1-2 tanks you really take pride in and fine interesting/attractive. i used to have multiple tanks and a pond...now im just at these two tanks and it feels great.

There's different strokes for different folks. I'm glad that you found what works best for you.

I have some over the top and some plain. I'm not a single fish per tank person by any means, but I have three right now and one with two fish.

The rest look like a sardine can. :naughty:

The way I look at it, there is no such thing as an overstocked tank, just under filtered ones. :grinyes:

Speaking of overstocked tanks...

I have just gotten into keeping cichlids- African. All of mine are small.. The largest one being 3"- the rest are 2" and under.

It's a 110 gallon tank.

With cichlids, isn't it ok to overstock the tank as it helps to keep them less aggressive?

yea especially with CA/SA. many people recommend it with africans...but what they dont realize is it applies to americans even more. you can raise a community of cichlids that establish a pecking order (assuming right tank size and proper filtration) with about 6 or more fish...where as if you had a few it wouldnt work unless a breeding pair

i take duckweed out of the 10 and toss it in the 125 i think the synspilum eats it. someone definitely does because its wiped clean very quickly and picked off the filter too
