they sell the plastic stip that covers that part. i think its about 2" wide. it would be a good idea to cover as most fish can be escape artists

Thought about a bichir but I have only seen one around here and it was $60. Plus I don't have anything cover the back part of my tank, I'm afraid it might jump out.

BTW what does everyone use to cover the gap from the lights do the back of the tank? Do I need to cover it or is it ok leaving that exposed?

You have to cover it. I lost my Delhezi thru a small hole. I use the plastic strip that came with the lid but cut out a place for the cords or what ever to go thru. Like J said, you can buy those for cheap. Well worth it, bichirs are so cool.

I would leave it the way it is. The clowns should be fine, as they do grow very slowly. I have 1 Gold Saum, 4 clowns (I'll be adding a few more) and 5 giant danios. The saum ignores them all.

I would add the loaches and danios, and by all means get the cover strip because both are jumpers. I would also add a bichir if you can find one...probably no more cichlids but you could maybe get away with 1 more (not an oscar; JD would be OK, or maybe a salvini?)
