Do you take everything literally?
The article is an example of why Nile Monitors are not good "pets" for the average family and why there is so many of them are given up like yours was. Sure, you may have an obsession with reptiles, but everyone else in the house have to deal with that obsession. In fact, most large animals that are not abandoned are kept in well-established houses or facility with lot of money. Varanids and large Indo-Australian boids may be my passion, but I don't plan on owning any of them until I get a big place or an independent facility to run my operations as well as the mean to feed and heat them with an expected high bills. You know what? At least I realize my limitations. It may take me 10 or 20 years before I can surpass my limitations, but it will be well worth waiting for.
I may be new, but I at least read the old posts.
