I have been patient for a while, i've got a 220 with a dovii pair, and a 125 with a male i am growing out, he is aprox. 5", he is very shy and stays in a hollowed out log all day, all the dovii's i have had in the past, even my fry arent shy at all, is there anyway to get this guy to come out of his shell, he is a beautiful fish with great coloring but he stays hid all day, and wont eat unless there is nothing around the tank. arggh i am gettin frustrated.

Put some other fish in the tank with him. If it were me, I'd put a huge mob of livebearers in there (big mollies or swords) and a couple of pairs of convicts. Make sure there's plenty of cover for the cons, but the livebearers will (eventually) be food most likely. The extra activity will draw him out and give him something to occupy his mind.

i am dividing them b/c there are fry in the tank. So far the female is a little bigger than the male and she constantly kicks his butt. Slowly but surely he is catching up so once the fry are out and he is a little bigger I will take it out. Thanks for the comp. though.

I will try that, hopefully what will spark some aggression, he stays hid all day and night. Yeah your male will be fine once he gets bigger, fo sho!
