If he is only 8" at 1 year than something isn't right. How often are you feeding? What are his tankmates? Tank size? These are great cats. Koop now has my large one but I ended up picking up 2 new small ones.

Are you sure he's getting food when you feed?

i have a fire eel two pecock eels a liveing stone and a arrowanna. and a lemon chiclild .... he eats fine... everything that hits the bottom.... shrimp flakes, blood worms and brine shrimp... he gets food trust me... check out my pics.

I would suggest adding a good sinking pellet. He would have to consume a lot of flakes, blood worms and brine shrimp to fill him up. The niger I picked up a month or two ago has gone from a skinny 5" to 9" on a diet of mainly 2 types of pellets. Their growth is almost that of rtc IME.

i started feeding him sinking pellets but i realy dident check if he ate them. i have white gravel on the bottom of the tank and i know hes noctornal so he dont like to come out as much.... but i know he eats like a pig... . anything else i could do

you need to feed "bigger" foods... flakes, blood worms, and brine shrimp are not going to get a catfish like that full
