my niger hit WELL over 12in. in less than a yr. before I sold him he was eating mainly sinking carnivor pellets but also freeze dried krill, and other meaty sinking pellets

i started feeding him sinking pellets but i realy dident check if he ate them. i have white gravel on the bottom of the tank and i know hes noctornal so he dont like to come out as much.... but i know he eats like a pig... . anything else i could do

Wow a year and only 8". Mine got up to 15" in a year. Plus yours is probably stress out from the white substrates as you said it doesn't come out that much. Mine is super active day or night vacuuming my substrates and will only become inactive when it's very full.
