Oxygen tabs for fish transport and shipping?

Anyone used these? Any specific brands, applications or feedback?

Going to be collecting and transporting some fish. Will, of course, use battery air pumps but batteries die, airlines fall out and want a fail safe.

Also, anyone used them for shipping bags in place of oxygen?
 
I'm not aware of any oxygen tabs for bagging fish so if you have a brand it may help.

I did use Jungle Bag Buddies years ago but I don't think it's made anymore. It claimed to add O2 in addition to other stuff. The disadvantage to using it was I couldn't see the fish in the bags at local club auctions.

I switched to buying an O2 cylinder, regulator and hose to fill my fish bags at home for local club auctions and it worked great.

I think your best bet is to use battery operated air pumps + extra new batteries and a way to clamp the air hose to the container. I don't know if they make an air pump that would connect to the vehicle cigarette lighter or an auxiliary outlet common on new vehicles or even a USB power port operated pump.

Yeah, usually duct tape the battery pumps to top of the buckets. Just thinking of a back up.

You can add a bit of Seachem Prime to bind ammonia. I’ve also used Sochting Oxydators as backup. A catalyst reacts with hydrogen peroxide and releases oxygen. Seems easy enough to make but there’s more to it than it looks so I purchased commercially manufactured ones.

Regarding the Bait Buddies tabs, I'd like to learn what they're made of before making any recommendations. The only solid oxygenator that I can think of is sodium percarbonate, which dissolves into sodium carbonate and peroxide, which then degenerate into oxygen and water and sodium carbonate. It's not safe for fish (or people) from what I understand.
 
If u don't trust oxygen tabs u can just bag ur fish with oxygen...they sell disposable oxygen prefilled oxygen cans on amazon now

I worked in an aquatic store for close to ten years, I can't remember the name of the brand we used but if ever customers was worried about air or was travelling a long distance we used to pop a oxygen tablet in the bag/box and never had any troubles or complications from it.

That oxygen tablets are not safe for fish would differ from the experience of lots of people who have used them.

Any practical experience on your part?
