Got a few questions on the hookup of an ozinizer.
First off I've got a freshwater 300 gal acrylic tank with 2 fx5's and 2 ehiem pro 2 filters. I have a red sea 200 mg/hr ozinizer and controller on the way. I guess what I need to know is can I run this system without a sump? If I can what is a good external skimmer/reactor to use? Where would the placement of the probe go? What would you reccommend for air filters and a carbon return filter?
Thanks for any advice in advance.

this will be freshwater.... and im reseaerching the same thing... you (dr joe) and chompers were going to be getting some PMs for some help from me soon....

its really not a technology for a F/W tank. it help a protein skimmer work more efficiently in a S/W tank.
it gets very complicated to try to explain. which I'm not vary good at doing.

Read that link allready. I was planning on putting the skimmer/reactor after the filter so there should be no breakdown of the filter, then the carbon filter and return to the tank. Not sure of this would work due to placement of the probe. Would I need another chamber after the carbon to put the probe in or by the outlet of water return?

I don't want to discourage you, but if you have to ask it probably isn't something you want to be getting advice on from some anonymous internet guys! Haha!

Truth is, they aren't worth the cost and effort since FW water changes are so simple.

To answer some of the questions, though, it doesn't really matter what type of skimmer since the skimmer won't work in FW anyway. You would be wasting money on a good one. I have a giant ozone reactor with a more giant carbon reactor that I purchased from here:

Still, I wouldn't even consider suggesting you get one for your situation. It is SOOOOOOOOO unnecessary if you just make water changes, AND it can be very dangerous if incorrectly used. I don't even use mine anymore.

I think chompers did a DIY ozone reactor, but I agree that it is overkill for most home aquarium applications. When you couple that in with the fact that a malfunction will prove deadly (I think the shedd lost some fish due to a faulty ozone reactor recently), it's a very dicey move.

And for the final disclaimer, just my 2 cents.
