P-14 progression thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i would say by 2 years, someone will be popping out pups :) even though yours are younger, they seem to be maturing faster.

Mine should be 1 yr and 9 months, BUT my males claspers are fairly small still. He is growing pretty fast in the new tank, and have recently started to eat wayy more aggressive.

prob 2.5 tears the males mature at different rates but female p14 wont be mature until 2.5 years

Thanks for the age info T1KARMANN I kind of figured as much the male P-14 I have is about the same age as my leo was when he matured but the leo's claspers are huge compared to the P-14

Keepin, I kept all the rays at 84 for the first year+ but have now turrned it back to 82 for a few months When I did they did not eat as much by 1/4-1/2 oz food a day. 3 black aro's and 4 rays are eating 3.5 oz food 2x a day tilapia and shrimp occasional crawlers

i believe it was Rudy who has bred his p14 at less than 2 years

I also believe T1 said 2 years also??

Here is a good thread 2-4 year range.....

I got some video of the p-14 pair attempting to breed 2 days ago. The male got a little too excited and released on the tank floor. Vid will be up in a day or two when I get more time.Pair

There are a handful of us that have pairs that are getting to breeding age. I believe my pair are a bit younger than yours and keepins. They bite each other but I don't think they've figured things out yet.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the p - 14 male was much more gentle with the female compared to my Leo male who just chews spots off.

Man isnt that the truth. Whats worse is not getting the job done either. Just took my BD/Leo male out of a month of time out so I could let the ladies heal. He completely removed a spot on one and reshaped some on the other. Released him last night and he went right after the largest female. Wish he would at least learn where to put it. :irked:
Looking forward to the vid.......

If the males are just beating the females then the females prob arent mature yet. When the females are mature they will give in more easily.
