Picked up a pom pom or afer knife the other day and as expected he is very shy and just hides most of the day but he really doesn't seem interested in any food i put in. I feed massivore, nls and bloodworms any other suggestions to try or just wait for a few days and see if he calms down?

I give mine cut up smelt and raw shrimp.He will also eat a live fish that is small enough,during the night.They are nocturnal fish so it may take a while got your afer to feel comfortable enough to eat during the day.
Alright ill try to get some earthworms to him soon...just hard in my tank because everything loves them so not many make it to the bottom.
What is it housed with? You can try feeding them like 10-20 min after the lights are off

Housed with large oscar, peacock bass, bb silver dollars, syno cats and a few other things that all love earthworms haha. Ill try and feed after lights are off tonight.
That'll be tough with that list of tank mates, but no worries, these Afer Knife fish can go quite a wile without eating, my 16" specimen and my 20+" fish I sold a year or so ago eats/ate earthworms like nobodies business! Tried pellets once or twice to no avail, but it has been done I've heard.
Try faking out the others with pellets first( I use bigger floating trout chow for my hungry oscars ) and filling their mouths, then take a turkey baster and feed your knife directly as you can.

mine only eats with lights out. definitely eats cut shrimp. have seen him eye pellets but not sure he is taking them or not
