Hi i bought 3 peacock bass that I put in my 46 gallon tank to grow them out and I have noticed they all have been hanging around the top of the tank and the corners. Is this Normal? My ph is 7.4, my temp is 82, healthy supply of oxygen and recently added aquarium salt. Also, tank has no nitrites or ammonia and between 0 and 5ppm of nitrate. Any feedback would help, thanks.

What else is in the aquarium, how long have they been in there, and how big are they?

They are all 1-2 inch long and I got them two days ago. The only thing else in the aquarium is a red tail cat and he's around 1 inch long.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in a few weeks, the bass will be feeders for the RTC more than likely. Best bet is to keep the bass alone in the tank, raise temp a bit as stated above.

I have a larger tank to move the RTC to when it gets bigger and I raised the temperature and they seem to be starting to school a little bit, is that normal?

It is, separate the cat soon as you even have the slightest worry about the size. You may already know the saying "never trust a catfish"? That especially applies with bigger ones like rtcs and tsns, they can fit surprisingly large meals down and are gluttons

Every time I get a group of new bass they do the same thing. It took my last group about a week to come out and be normal. Add some other fish to get them feeling comfortable. I got a few convicts for cheap and that helped tremendously.

What other fish are good tank mates for peacock bass?
