nobodys an expert even if they if they read every book available. QUOTE]

I Disagree. Einstein wasnt an expert? Jeff Rapps isnt an expert?

Cichla monoculus - 24-28 inches. and they need about as much room as a 4 foot catfish at that size...

feeding live food is best.

Nice looking peacock bass. Let us know if the eyes turn red. Then you defintely have a keeper.

Note: Feeding live food is best for "all fish". Trying to teach it to eat prepared foods is better in the long run. And yes, Einstein is an expert, Jeff Rapps is an expert. I believe Diesel is referring to everyone making mistakes...no room for this harsh correction.

A pair should be good for life in a 8x2x2 tank.

My point on the whole statement is to be an expert....no matter who you are, you must have hands-on experience......this is why any profession ect has you do an internship or other type of job related experience.....you must start somewhere. And even Einstein worked at that which he mastered....the same with jeff. So the whole point being everyone here had a first fish of some type....either by an impulse buy or by wanting one so bad you just had to have it......everyone makes mistakes...otherwise nobody would learn anything.
As for the "Bloodeye" or red colored eye....dont put your money on it that its automatically an ocellaris.....many cichla get bloodeye depending on mood,feeding,ect... but ocellaris do indeed keep the red coloration more consistantly.....I currently have two specific tems that keep red eye coloration 24/7 and young orinocos that have red eyes pretty consistantly.

In all.....I just think we need to help out here instead of persecuting somebody

As for longterm tank size......at least a 3-4ft width for turning with 8ft+ length...or better an indoor pond.................just an opinion.

this is what he will look like when adult a true monster ! he is in a 240 and the tank doesnt look quite big enough
