I know a bass tank should be huge, but do bass prefer a long tank like a 6ft plus long, or a wider tank........

I would go with a 8'x3'x2' tank. For bass i would not go anything less then a 2.5'' width as full adults. But we also have to know what bass.

Thanks for your quick response.....

personally feel minimum width should be 2.5'wide, min length 6'long. then priority goes to 3'wide, then 4'wide before 7/8' long.

edit: in other words 6x3>7/8x2.5, 6x4>7/8x3, key: more appropriate for pbass>than

Both :) Long and wide :)

Hey i purchased a pbass a couple of days ago, and all it's been doing is staying in a corner not very active, and the color is pale.. i have green water but i'm fixing that by doing water changes. is it because its shy or is it getting disturbed from the water changing? please help, don't know what else to do, btw i have a pleco in that tank also.

how big is your tank? what are you water parameters? get some tank mates that like to swim around. He will be more active with fish like that

Just like my wife likes it :WHOA:

Anyhow, I say 6' is good to grow out for a few months, but would need a wide tank in the long run so as to turn around without any issues. A 240 has great dimensions.

i have a 6x3x3 with a few bass close to 20". its seems like just the right size. i would definitely recommend somthing with a footprint of at least 6x3.

and dont forget about height either. i dont think i could ever go back to keeping cichla in a 2' tall tank. they are just too active for a tank that low
