I've all ways like the look of these cichlids and now someone in denver CO has a bunch of fry for sale would love to get one can any one give me info on them can't seem to find much on them

1. max size i assume its big (12''-16'')

2. temperment probably varies from fish to fish but can any one give me an idea

3. Diet are they omnivors or carnivores ?

Max size is around 10-11" for the male...smaller for the female. They are just average aggressive for a CA Cichlid. More so toward con specifics. As with most of the Paratheraps/Vieja complex...they are omnivorous...a bit heavier on the veggies...some protein.

Fast becoming one of my favorite species.

really i assumed they would get over 12'' cool might be even better of a cichlid for me

I don't mean to hijack this thread but, I'm new to Breidorhis as well. What is the minimum size tank for an adult? I was looking to put him in a 40 breeder and a couple of my friends say that should be fine. What are your thoughts?

No problem any info or questions on them is welcome it appears there not a very commonly kept cichlid

i would say a female could be kept in a 40 breeder but I have no experience with this fish males seem to get some what large and would need a larger tank

Any body know where to find info on them ?

Hmm, not bad-looking for a Para/Vieja

what species does that store in boulder have?

a 40 gallon breeder tank should be okay for the breidorhis until they hit somewhere about 7", then you probably want to move them to a 85 gallon or larger....i'd say 125 gal will be okay for the life of a male breidorhi with a female...

Aqua imports ? pretty sure there all black belts not a bad cichlid to but gets alot bigger and tends to be pretty aggressive from what i've heard
