I understand tankmates are not going to happen with an adult P. dovii pair but would they ignore or tollerate large plecos? Any dovii keepers getting away with this? Specifically a 10" rhino or 3 beacon pleco.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry Justin but thats gonna be a no go, especially if the pair spawns. You might be able to get away with it before they spawn but I highly doubt it, I also noticed the larger the pleco the more the dovii and other large growing cichlids see them as a threat

I think you'd get annoyed with the massive turds and potential out-competing food difficulties after a month or two anyway.

Thanks guys. That's what I figured, I have a freind wanting me to take in his 10" rhino pleco so I thought I would ask. I already told him no.

What about some smaller plecos that like to hide such as Bristlenose?

Seems like it would only be a matter of time before a BN got picked off as a snack. I could be wrong though.

Yeah, that is a possibility.

However, I have had Bristlenose Plecos in with aggressive Cichlids and Polys successfully. I also had one in a 75 with a very aggressive FH, but the BN was good at hiding and never got touched. I did lose a couple BNs to a Venezuela Pike though.

I won't risk it. BN's are too sharp and poky IMO to risk getting eaten and stuck. Nothing would make me madder than finding a dead 14" dovii with a 3" BN hanging out of it's mouth.

The fish you are getting from me are proven killers. You have a bugger tank than me though, so who knows...
