I think you'd get annoyed with the massive turds and potential out-competing food difficulties after a month or two anyway.

OMG yes, I had to rid of my 11" Pleco because of that

I won't risk it. BN's are too sharp and poky IMO to risk getting eaten and stuck. Nothing would make me madder than finding a dead 14" dovii with a 3" BN hanging out of it's mouth.

Good point. That probably wouldn't happen, but if it did, it would be horrible.

Lol do it. Mine is just egg crate, but it works. Btw they have always spawned on driftwood for me as opposed to rocks. Just an observation.

a friend of mine has a 12"+ common plec in with his mating pair of dovii...in his 55.
The males probably 8 or 9 inches and female is around 4.

That fish is also insanely aggressive. Attacking your hand (atleast trying to) if you wave it from 5 feet away.

Your mate needs to stop hurting, imprisoning, his fish and get a bigger tank!!!!

i didnt. They're his fish and he can do what he wants with them. I suggested against the pleco but he added one anyway. They seem to all be fine enough

Suggest that he doesn't keep any of those fish in a 55! One adult Dovii in a 55 is ridiculous enough.

I don't really like large Plecos because of the waste problems that have already been mentioned. But if given a large tank with plenty of hiding places, smaller plecos will work with larger cichlids. There are some very attractive plecos out there.

Not going to happen with a dovii pair. My old pair were smart, they used to flip the pleco's over and attack their soft underside.
