P. managuense Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So now they’re both in one corner of the tank where the smaller, banded one has been hiding between two sponge filter sponges (sorta like a cave with opening on top). There’s no slate there, but they’ve cleaned all the gravel off the bottom of the plexiglas tank under the makeshift cave. The bigger one is hovering above the entrance (this one has the normal spot pattern and is a bit bigger), and they keep bumping noses and rubbing on each other. I haven’t seen Parachromis courtship, but it sure seems like that’s what’s happening. I’d have set the tank up better if I’d have known this could happen.
I’m still waiting for the bigger one to come home drunk and black the other one’s eyes; I was prepared to split them off today to avoid this, but I’ll hold off a bit. It’s like a fish reality tv show.
