I have 2,a female 11" and a male 9" .
Bought the male in june 2010 at almost 6".
And the female in august at 8-9" and they
were sold to me as P.Hystrix Colombia.
They eat like pigs and give me a huge bioload (20% waterchange a day at this moment)
I think they wil reach 18" easily,so not scobina size.
Had motoro and retics a few years ago,but Orbignyi give me more fun.
Put in 4 small pearls 2 weeks ago,Orbi female let a small pup steal smelt from her mouth.Gentle towards all my fish, except L-numbers sometimes chased around the tank.

Lol really? About all I could find on this species is that they are comparable in size to hystrix, scobina and reticulatus. Anyone have any input?

From what I can recall, they go bigger than motoros.

I think it is similar to motoro. Different locations collected may get larger than others. I have a friend that has one and the growth is no where near his motoro's.

Thanks everyone for the input. I had originally thought these rays were one of the largest species. AFter I saw a pic of them (was told they were hystrix) I searched around a little and foudn that they commonly get mislabeled as hystrix. Once site even said they were one of the smaller rays. They don't seem very common.

Are you asking about Potamotrygon Orbignyi ?

Just google it, lots of info...

No wonder why I couldn't find much info. I was going off vague memory of this species and I had the spelling all messed up.
